N/A 745 exhaust downpipe hanger - what is it supposed to look like? 700 1990

My wagon has had the downpipe replaced by the previous owner's mechanic. That "fine gentleman" used a big hose clamp to attach it to a flat bracket with a squarish hole protruding from the bellhousing area.

I am assuming this isn't how it is supposed to work. The downpipe has a plate with a threaded hole welded to it, so I am assuming something bolts on there. What is that something and how does it mate with the bracket on the bellhousing? There has got to be a rubber piece there somewhere.

A picture would be awesome. There probably is one in the gallery, but I don't see a way to search it...

Pictures are tricky to get as that bracket is pretty deep down where few will bring their digital cameras.

No rubber in there. Just the bracket... which has two "halves"... part that connects to the bellhousing, and part that threads into that hole in the down pipe. The two halves are then bolted together. I can't remember exactly how... it's been a year since I've fiddled around down there.

What I can say is that usually the holes don't always line up with aftermarket downpipes, so "alternative" methods (like the hose clamp) are often used.

Hm. I didn't figure this to be a complicated question. Or did it just slide down the board too fast?
