As mentioned below, Easy to repair is a relative term. Yes, generally for a guy who has worked on and older Volvo, these are easy to work on. A kid out of school who is used to plugging in a Computer, this car is a big mystery to him.
I am the original owner of my '89. I am very mechanically inclined so my car has never seen a 'shop'. In fact, the '89 is teh newest car I own.

As far as Tuneup stuff, Hey, open the hood you can actually see the engine! You are already in better shape then with new car.
Are you willing to get your hands dirty? If the car is in good shape and maintained, you wont have to tinker with it like it is a Harley Davidson motorcycle but you can't forget it is 19 years old.
Will the dealer warranty things like the Computer ('561) and the AMM? if they poop out it will cost you some hefty bucks.
