Aftermarket stereo problems 700 1987

Hey Ari,

A 15 Amp fuse should be adequate for your radio. If you can slide out the chassis, there is usually a fuse located near the wiring plug of the radio. Most likely that is a 10 or 15 amp fuse. The different speaker on the drivers' side will not cause the rear speakers not to work. The difference in sensitivity (dB@1watt or 2.83 volts) is what causes one to be louder than the other. My guess is that your car has/had the factory power amplifier. Its either behind the radio in the center of the dash or located above the drivers' knee bolster panel. They connected the front speakers but not the rear. A wiring diagram is really helpful. This site has many wiring diagrams for a bunch of Volvo cars. http://volvo.techno.org.pl/wiring-diagrams.html The diagrams listed towards the bottom are from Mitchell and are very helpful, much easier to read than the Haynes manual ones and include the radio circuits as well. Good site. Good luck with your radio.

Regards, Jon 'Uncle Olaf
