Art gave you good advice. I just wanted to add that you can test the Main pump right at the fuse panel — just remove fuse 5 and jumper +12V to the LEFT (input) fuse terminal. That leads straight to that underseat pump connector, like relay 87 does. The +12V is always available at the (hot) Left side of fuses 6 –10.
You can also test the Tank pump alone by putting the +12V to the fuse 5 Right side (output) contact, with the fuse out.
And, FCP is mistaken if they say your pump also fits any 700/900 car. You should have the Bosch
0 580 254 949 (aka GFP211), which my Bosch catalog says applies only to '80–'84 240s.
Or maybe the FCP # matches the JY pump you just got. The '92 740/940 nonturbo pump is
0 580 464 030 (GFP299), which is not what Bosch calls out for your '83 240.
