tail light issues...a volvo bedtime story - bad grounds 200 1988

Whenever I hear about faint glow in lights in a car, I immediately suspect bad grounds somewhere. You may have to look everywhere in the car where there are connectors. Sounds like your "mechanic" is not the person to entrust with electrical repairs....
