Deleting A/C 200 1989

I did it to my 88/240/47. Check FAQs I believe there is a picture top and bottom showing how it looks to space out the power steering pump 3/4 of an inch. The belt I used was a Dayco top cog #15410, 11A1040, 4196-9. I don't know why there are four numbers on it.

You'll need to get at least grade 8 bolts, top and bottom, three quarters an inch longer than are now used. I was going to cut pipe spacers, but used flat washers sandwiched together. Also, use new rubber bushes all around.

The compressor comes out the bottom, take your time. Remove the belly pan first then the pan under and in front of the radiator. The AC condensor then drops out the bottom too. Just cut the hoses away.

By law the system should be vacuumed dry of R-12 by a suto shop before you start. They may do it for free since R-12 can be recycled and is very expensive.

It is a wonderful improvement, takes many pounds off the front of the car and makes other maintenence easier. And the aluminum is recyclable.

For some reason IPD's kit is not for later than an '84. Liability maybe?
