Engine turns over then locks up from too much fuel. 200 1989

How does the gasoline smell? Is it sickeningly sweet? If so, congratulations, the gas has rotted and is not as flammable as it used to be. Also, gummed up dead fuel can cause injectors to stick open or closed. My guess is that two of them are stuck open as a result.

The fuel pressure regulator could also be plugged up as a result, replacement would be advised. All of the above being said, if the gas is bad (smell test), the fuel system must be drained and the tank should be washed out or replaced. When gas separates and dies, you can wind up with the equivalent of molasses in the bottom of the tank.

I have seen too many cars that wound up with stuck intake valves due to bad gas after the fuel system was cleaned up and corrected. You must flush out the fuel system in order to avoid additional damage... if the fuel smells "sweet".

If the problem was with the ECU, all four cylinders would have flooded as all four injectors are "fired/opened" by the same two wires... ground and Ecu drive.
