95 940 Radio drains the battery 900

Radio OFF. The radio drains the battery after 4 or 5 days the car is parked. If I pull the radio fuse no problem, even after a week. Any ideas? Thanks

Further to my previous reply. I posted a question on the 26th regarding this same problem, but got no takers.

95 940 Radio drains the battery 900

I have a similar problem with a 91 940. I have feedback in my speakers like a switch is being turned on and off even with the key out of the ignition. For that matter even with the radio setting on the back seat. I've pulled the Audio fuse (separate from the fuse for the radio in the main panel and the fuse on the radio itself) That cured the feedback and killing the battery problem. Now what to do to get rid of the sound like squirrels running around inside the doors and have a working radio again. I suspect one of the posters is right, it has to do with the separate amp, which I believe the fuse marked "audio" is for.

Regards,

Perry

I just pulled my radio in a 940. You could pull the radio out entirely to check your theory. Remove the plugs in the back and then the radio would be out of the circuit. Also, I believe you have other components on the same fuse. Which fuse are thinking has your radio on it? Lastly, on my car I believe it was impossible for my radio to drain the battery as the "battery" wire was really not that at all since to become "hot" I was required to turn the key to the ACC setting. SO with a meter you could determine if you really have a hot wire that is always on. Lastly, the radio controls the amp (if present, ) and the power antennae so you could think about those.

Fuse # 29 is for the radio
The radio has a hot wire on at all times to keep the memory active. I never had a problem with other volvos with the same radio layout. I will disconnect the radio entirely and leave the fuse to see if any difference. As far as I know that fuse is for the radio only. Thanks

The separate amplifier, if installed, is notorious for this problem. Check for that first.
