Hood latch 700 1992

There is a spring loaded catch on each receiver for the posts on the hood.

On my most recent project car(94 944T) the catch on the passenger side was not responding to the spring tension and therefore would not secure that side of the hood.

Volvo did a very good job of making the mechanism inaccessable. Repeated applications of PBBlaster and tapping the top of the receiver with a hammer finally freed things up so that the spring pulls the latch piece into place. If it was more accessable I believe oiling the release cable would be a help as well.
