Any quality comments about the brand called Meyle? 200

I've been looking for a website source to buy some new suspension parts (e.g., control arms). For things like this, I usually prefer Volvo-brand -- in contrast, almost all the companies I've gone to online list these parts as made by Scantech, which I know enough about to avoid like the plague. I haven't found any that list Volvo as the brand.

However, one site, europartsdirect, lists these parts as made by Meyle. I've heard of this company for rubber parts such as mounts, but haven't heard any comments about them for structural parts. Are they any good.

If anyone can comment on this company for such metal parts, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks, all.

I have used europartsdirect--aka volvopartsdirect, aka saabpartsdirect, etc. (for each of the European makes). They do list parts as "original" as the source if they are from the manufacturer. Prices are good and the service has been terrific. They are local to me (Long Island, NY) and if the part comes from the local warehouse or from the PA warehouse I have it the next day. I recently installed a Meyle trans mount in my '84 245GLT - did not see anything to make me uncomfortable using the part.

I think Meyle is junk, see picture 200

Several years ago I replaced both tie rod ends on my 1987 745T. At one year after installation, the rubber boots were severely cracked. Maybe they've improved the rubber since then, but I am not buying any more Meyle products to find out.

I don't to question the judgement of your plan, but may I offer another. I have no knowledge about Meyle. However, you mention a need to procure control arms. I'm thinking you are not intending just the bushings, but the actual control arm. If this is the case, why buy a new aftermarket? I would suggest you consider a good used Volvo control arm that can be bought from Voluparts.com. I did this with a great rear trailing arm and got a good bushing already pressed in for $50.00. Afterall, who will see it? This metal is as good as new. Here is a second option that guarantees a brand-new Volvo part. Make a call and price needed parts at TascaVolvo. They have told me that prices for parts of "older Volvos" are dropping. For example, in May I paid $84.50 for a pair of trailing arm rear bushings. In October, they had dropped to half of that when I bought a second pair for another 240. On my 760, I intended to replace bushings on the rear stay rods. I knew that the geometry of stay rods might present a problem for me to press out old and press in new bushings on my own and felt I might have to pay to get help. To me it was worth it to buy new stay rods from TascaVolvo (they come with new bushings already pressed in). It's always nice to have choices. Good luck!

They are said to be original equipment suppliers for Volvo. Generally a quality German manufacturer, I have used some outer tie rod ends for a couple of years without issue. The other day I replaced motor and trans mounts with Meyle that looked pretty good. Dan

I just GOOGLED Meyle and found their website. The history of the company, if I interpreted it correctly, had been a supplier for German and other European auto manfacturers. This has changed, they now seem to be just doing the spare parts business, ie aftermarket, for metal and rubber suspension. Their message seems to focus still on providing quality in those spare parts.

Helga has both engine mounts, and the transmission mount from Europartsdirect.com

They are all 3 Meyle brand mounts, and have been problem free. There is no sagging, nor is there any sign of any bulging. The only complaint that I might have had, was that they were just a wee bit, "Buzzy" for the first few days. This eventually went away. Would I buy them again? You Betchum, Red Ryder.

Been riding on a Meyle ball joint for a year or two and seems to be holding up as well as the TRW on the other side. FCP sent me one when I specifically requested TRW. Whatever, I'm pretty much done with them; but the ball joint seems good.
