Replacing Oil Pan... Any hints or Suggestions? I'm Stuck! 200 1984

Hi Julio,

Long time indeed. Actually I've been missing for some of the same reasons too.

I can give you first hand experience with an '84's oil pan, and have it documented on my web page cleanflametrap.com, but can tell you many of us bricksters have reached in, at the point you are, and dropped the oil pump to get it out of the way. Click the link above and jump to the bottom for the notes on the oil pan.

Then some have snipped the baffle in the pan so they could put it back together. Lucid recently did this on his '93 940 and posted pics to show where to cut.

In my case, I needed to disconnect the hoses from the rack in order to get the clearance to remove the pan by rotation alone. Re-installing it was not a problem without modifying the baffle.

With luck you'll have it running again before sunset.
