Nissens heater core 900

Has anyone recently installed one in a 7/9? The one I received from FCP Groton a few days ago has plastic ends and plastic inlet/outlets. This wouldn't concern me so much, but the angle of the inlet/outlet is such that I don't think I can really get the new one in securely. There is no (for lack of a better term) step in the tubes - they just go off the core at an angle, forcing it too far away from the heater box and making it impossible to get the metal straps on correctly.

I just wonder if it is correct or not. I have sent an email to FCP Groton, but any help would certainly be appreciated.

Is this what you received?

It looks like it has a plastic top and fittings. I wouldn't consider using it, there is no known history of the plastic ended heater core on this board. Even though this will not see the heat of the radiator, consider that the plastic (hot) end on the Nissnes radiator is the typical failure mode plus the plastic ends would be prone to cracking as it ages when removing the hose which should be done during a coolant flush not to mention hose replacements. If there was a use history, maybe.

FCP Groton should take this back with no questions asked if in the original condition. You may have to pay for the shipping. Look for a soldered all copper heater core.

This is my opinion,
Tom

That is the one. I can say with certainty that it does NOT easily fit 940s. I called FCP Groton and one of the warehouse guys found me a metal one. Fortunately I live in CT, so I just went to the warehouse and traded.
