240 Tail light woes 200 1993

it may sound dumb but are you sure you didn't force the 1157 bulb in the socket 180 degrees off? Although the tits on the bulb are offset, you can force it in the socket incorrectly causing the brighter, Brake filiment to light when you turn on your Headlights.

Backup lights: The Black wires on the Harness at teh tail lights are for the Backup lights.. do you have voltage there when you are in reverse??
