Blower motor turned into a heater core replacment...what else should I do now that I am there? 200 1987

I took yesterday to replace my blower motor. All was going fantastic, I had the motor out by 9:45 AM. I had thought I had a leak in the floor pans of my car because the interior would be wet after a rain but it always took forever to dry out.

When I took off blower housings, I found that although I may have a leak in the exterior of my car; I also had a heater core problem. Before doing anything else, I pressure tested my core at 10 PSI and realized that it was shot. Needless to say, I was not happy. I have the part being overnighted from IPD (will get here Tuesday) and my car is currently a mess. The entire interior (minus the back seat) is out. This is the only time I will remove the dash from this car, if I ever have any more problems it will become a parts car.

Now that I have removed everything, is there anything else i should do to try to make it another couple hundred thousand miles? I only have 115K on the car and it is my only car so I have a vested interest in keeping this thing going.

The only good news is that the blower replacement is really easy if you have the entire heating system out of the car. Just a bolt in part!

I almost went out and bought a 2005 CPO XC70 yesterday. My faith in the old 240 was shaken badly by this repair. I now it is not for the faint of heart, but reliability has not been on my side the last few thousand miles.

Cheers, John
