Yep I did and in August to boot. Inga's motor landed on top of the cross brace with a resounding thunk and she actually got me home. But her engine ended up with a three axis out of alignment. It was to the driver’s side in the front, the passenger’s side close to the firewall, and on a downhill angle all the same time. And the engine was also further back to boot.
Remove the Negative Lead of the Battery before you do anything else.
Get new motor mounts ready, get some electrical tape and give both a good wrap first. Oil will never see the rubber, two years now and both of Inga’s are bone dry! Look at Art's Oil Pan Lift page and you will find a rig for using the two lift points with a brace across the fenders. You want to use 2 braces, one for each lift point. To get the engine up off the rack, put a jack under the drain plug of the oil pan. It will not do anything to the oil pan but lift the engine. Raise the engine and secure to the cross cross braces. Then you adjust the angle of the engine with the jack and by raising and lowering the lift points on the all thread. You can make adjustments much faster by a gentle lift from below with the jack and then lowering or raising the all-thread. Thank the lord for me finding that cross brace on Art's Page.
Install your mounts onto the side of the engine. ***HUGE TIP Install the bottom of the passenger side mount and get it TIGHT before you install the mount***. Skip that one and you will find out just how freaking tight that nut is to reach after you install it in the car. Use the wood cross brace and jack to lower the engine until the lower threads of the mount line up with the cross brace. You may have to give it a pry a couple of places to line it up. But when all six are in the holes you are almost home. Lower it on down and you are ready to start the new nuts and snug it all up. The Torque specs are in Bentley and Hayes for the nuts.
And that is all there is too it. Only took me six to 8 hours to sweating, liberal use of the seven words you can not say on the radio under my breath, and a visit to Cleanflametrap and Dave Shannon before I figured it out.
May your job go faster and easier.
Good Luck,
Paul
