head gasket job on 245 200 1989

John,

Inspect the head VERY carefully for pits around the water passages that might have breached the area where the cylinder head gasket "crush" rings sit around the cylinder. If there is any pitting in that area, have the head refaced and or welded as needed. Final note: If the head needs shaved more than 0.010", find a new used head.
