Bad news first. C.A. tried driving her baby around the church parking lot and realized a couple of things. The lack of power steering made it difficult to take evasive manouvers or park. The lack of power brakes, ditto. And trying to shift, use the clutch, and brake all at the same time was impossible.
With real regret regarding the car she so loves, she called me and is making me buy it :)
Now, why am I smiling? It needs gobbs of work, the paint job is ugly, rust on the fenders, dents in the doors, windows all leak, and I already have 4 cars in the garage (until my daughter goes to college). Cleaning that 220 created a soft spot in my heart also, so I am smiling :) :)
QUESTION:
The bearings on the alternator are in bad shape. I don't even know what brand it is. Should I just buy a new one, take it to an alternator store, or try to find bearings for it and fix it my self?
The heater valve/switch is frozen open. Can I take that off and repair it or do I have to replace it with new for $190? It doesn't leak, but there is dried antifreeze around it.
