Hello All! we had very heavy rains here in midwest fla this afternoon and for the first time I have ever seen I opened the car after the rain and there was standing water on the drivers side floorboard as well as drivers side rear floorboard only! anyone ever experience this before? thanks!

My rear-side window was leaking. The leak was toward the back which channeled water to the trunk. If the leak was toward the middle to front water could easily fill the left rear floor board and migrate to the front.

Last leak found.. Another lousy photo.

If it only gets wet after an intense downpour, the likely reason is the rocker panels fill from the cowl vents and overflow into the floor pan at a rusty seam. If the rockers are clogged with leaves and needles they can't handle the volume coming in through the cowl.

It could be a windshield leak too, but they will make things dank even when the rain is not so heavy.

Sounds like it is time to pull out the chairs and the carpet, dry everything, and fish out the detritus in the rocker panels. Verify the source with the garden hose and a helper.

I had this happen to me, but it was the passenger floorboards, front and back. I traced it to a leak in the trunk (my Volvo is a 740 sedan) that allowed the water to wick up under and through the back seat material and soak the carpet on that side.

The dead giveaway that the leak was in my trunk was that the cloth toolbox in my trunk got very wet, and the tools inside began to corrode.

There are many other places the water could have come from... I'm sure the 240 folks on the BB will chime in any time now.

Ari
