Clutch return spring 140-160

Got the M41 into the 69 144 today. Wasn't to bad. I still have the driveshaft to put back on and some odds and ends to wrap up.

Where does the clutch return spring attach opposite the clutch fork? There is a small bracket atached to the tranny mount but it sticks out towards the passenger side. My B35 had it as well but wasn't sure why its there.

Clutch return spring 140-160

Hello,

Volvo used a different exhaust support bracket for automatic and manual cars for at least 2 reasons.

The bracket for a manual shift car, extends past the transmount bracket and has a hole for the clutch throw out return spring.

We usually remove these both styles of bracket as they are often broken near the exhaust pipe and causes a rattle.

For the manual shift cars without a bracket, we just drill a small hole in the transmission crossmember for the return spring.
