89 volvo 240 obd code 2-1-4 200 1989

If you are getting a 2-1-4 and the test wire is in socket #6, you need a new crank position sensor. It is located just behind the cylinder head where the engine and transmission bolt together. Inspect the harness coming out of it just above the sensor, if the insulation is cracked/missing, you are experiencing the common failure of this part. If I recall correctly, a new crank position sensor is under $20 from FCP Groton.

If you are getting 2-1-4 from socket #2 of the diagnostic connector, it is invalid and unheard of.

It is the CPS that is failing....
