The Defense Rises 200 1992

"Shade tree shortcuts can sometimes bite you in the butt."

This "disaster" (since averted) is the one and only reported rope trick problem I'm aware of. On the contrary, there have been literally dozens of reported successes for this this time-proven procedure during the 6+ years I've been active here. I don't have an accurate count, but a few positive examples are listed at the end of this older THREAD,
to which we can add a few more:

Jan 6, 2009 (2)
Jan 6, 2009 (3)
Jan 31, 2009
Feb 3, 2009

In contrast to those rope trick success stories, it's worth noting that all the negative sky-will-fall comments I've read over the years seem to come from people who have never tried it but remain vehemently opposed, despite all the fact-based evidence.

IMO, a more accurate title for this unique thread would be "Rope trick aberration" (meaning "a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected"). The Rope Trick may be a "Shade tree shortcut", but it's far from being a butt-biter in my own experience in those linked above.
