Believe it or not, newspaper makes an ok filler. Glues and caulking material don't work because the glass needs the physical pressure of the filler to stay in the lower channel. Two people for this job are best but not absolutely necessary--one to hold the glass and frame in place upright on a solid work surface and the other to use a rubber or leather mallet to smack the channel down onto the newspaper covered glass. Use enough pages over the edge of the glass so the metal REALLY has to be forced into place--then trim off the excess. Place the channel in the exact same spot as original to keep the regulator within its range of adjustment. I'll send you a plastic guide--you can reimburse me for postage later--Send me an e-amil with your address--things have been crazy here and I'm not sure where I have yours. -- Dave
