Planning some suspension mods for my new 89 245 ....source/forum? 200

All,

I've already been under and in my 89 Wagon, just purchased last weekend.

While I love her looks (aka Ms. Daisy) she exhibits horrendous body roll and the suspension is WAY too soft for my tastes. I've already spoken to IPD about their sway bar upgrades (25mm front and rear), priced some Bilstein HD shocks/struts, and again reviewed the lowering & 15% stiffer springs from IPD.

Not really interested in more power yet, but first round of upgrades would definitely require suspension to get Daisy lower and stiffer.

Any other options? I know IPD sells 17" wheels to fit the 200 series with correct offset (Pegasus I believe). Anyone running these wheels or other 16-17"? I noticed their adapters for mounting of FWD Volvo wheels; I'll check local availability/cost for FWD wheels but starting out $300 in the whole for offset adapters sounds like I'd have to score a cheap set, doubtful. Are there any other options for 16 or 17" wheels to fit the 245? Other sources for stiffer and lowering springs for the 245? Intrax perhaps?

Last questions....since I'm new to the B230 engine, is this engine retrofitable for a turbo? Or is the block/pistons/rods etc. different....I'm guessing yes it IS different and not suitable for a turbo, based on my SAAB experiences.

No intent to autocross, just want her glued to the road for some spirited driving. With only 177K on the clock all my suspension bushings still look pretty solid. Thanks all!

Duane
