Greetings all,

I am trying to replace the front Oil Seals and am stuck to loosen the bolt at the center of the main crankshaft pulley. I would very much appreciate any tips and advice.

1984 B23F crank pulley has 4 10mm bolts and 2 10mm nuts to remove the 2-piece crank pulley. Make sure to remember how many shims are between, behind and in front of the pulley pieces so you can replace them as they came off. A/C compressor belt will come off with that pulley as well.

You will need to move (wiggle/twist/turn/rotate, etc.) that belt upon re-install. The A/C belt is adjusted by how close together or far apart those pulley halves are (thus the shims). Good luck.

You described it well, Harry. But it is a PITA procedure that can often be avoided by just removing the pulley bolt (see rope trick) and removing the pulley as done on the B230.

Unless the AC belt is super tight, it will allow the pulley to be removed this way. If not, you'll have to do it the long, tedious "correct" way.

Of course the alternator belts must be freed from the pulley first.

Oh, OK. I didn't realize it would also come apart the same way a B230 does. COOL! I'll remember that for the next time I have mine apart. Thanx.
