Make sure you are pressing the button way in. Like 1/2" or so. The reset is the same as before the button got extended to the front, so you may be able to reach behind, but the whole idea to extend the button was driven by the airbag car's knee bolster, making it less easy to reach behind.

Here's what the old arrangement looked like. Yours just has a cable to move the same lever.
