Mike,
Finding a reliable supplier of reman calipers for our Volvos seems an unattainable feat. Assuming the best would be Volvo's genuine, I've read here they aren't so great either.
Imagine how fast a reman shop must build these to squeeze out any profit. And remember, they aren't building 10,000 of the same part. Mismatched halves, cheap universal seal kits, and buggered bleed or line seats have to be closer to the norm than the exception. You know you could do better, and with not a great deal investment, but only as a hobbyist, not for profit.
I've gone from ordering them on line to buying locally, because I can squint at them on the counter before paying. Next lesson I need to learn is to buy them in advance of needing them, so I can be pickier about what I accept.
Dimples: I believe these are hand-delivered punch marks, not NC-machined artifacts.
