Air Conditioner 1989 244 200

I would have to take exception to others' comments about the justifying the expense based on the value of the vehicle--we're talking about the Volvo 240 here--and you can completely rebuild a 240 AC system for less than $1000. By rebuild, I'm suggesting a new evaporator (parallel flow, from a retrofit kit), new condenser (parallel flow, aftermarket, from ackits.com or something like that), new lines with service ports built in, new receiver/dryer, new expansion valve, condenser fan, rebuilt compressor and r134 refrigerant. I just did that refit on my 87 245 and it's now an awesome system, and very serviceable. It will take time and knowledge to go that route. I live in Austin, TX, which has exceptionally hot summers.
