I've come to believe that the love one has for a Volvo is an acquired taste. You have to look past the initial impression of squared boxiness and quirkiness. Most people get a Volvo based on the marque's reputation and functionality, and not by the looks. When have you heard of someone who knows nothing about cars seeing a 240 and saying "Wow, I'd love to have one of those"? It doesn't have that sportscar "pizazz". A Volvo owner has to be sold on things like functionality, reliability, safety, longevity, and after having it for awhile they realize the beauty in them. It's like if when you were young you found yourself attracted to the type of girl (or guy) that was physically attractive only to find out that those types of people generally have shallow minds. You later found yourself attracted to people based on their personality and found yourself much more satisfied. They may not look like they belong on the cover of a modeling magazine but you find that they have a heart of gold. So, those people who make these lists up are entitled to their opinions. And, on the bright side, if most people think that these cars are ugly it'll keep the cost down of buying a used ane or parts. Just my $.02 worth FWIW.
