Try a pipe wrench before you drill it out, a pipwrench will bit and not slip the more pressure you apply. Thats what it's designed to do, turn smooth round pipes till they are threaded in tight to a fitting. I bet a med size pipe wrench will get the oil drain plug out in a jif and it will come in handy here and there again.
