Another over the axle tail pipe question 200 1986

Get the official Volvo kit from Tasca. They usually have it on eBay for like $110. Cheaper than Starla. Better fit, too... and you won't have to monkey around with the rear axle so it won't sit on the pipe when doing rear end work.

Starla rant:

Exorcise the damn Starla crap from your car. I had a bear of a time getting their kit on our 740 (the 740 kit isn't compatible with itself!). I put one on the 1990 240 a just few years ago (and it's sat out two salty winters, to boot). It was noisy out of the box. Just this weekend, I had to R&R the fuel tank on the 240, which required jiggling the exhaust a bit, and I noticed a scraping sound. I tried to isolate what it was rubbing against. I couldn't find it. Plenty of clearance everywhere. Then I noticed it: the under axle pipe lost it's grip on the front muffler. WTF? I slid under to take a better look and I noticed that one of the rubber donuts was hopelessly cracked and also failing. I managed to get the pipes "re-clamped" together well enough, but in the next month I'm planning to get a Volvo kit, and enjoy a little sawzall-based catharsis on everything Starla.
