I agree 100%, and I've just about memorized the electronics in the 240's speedo gauge. Jorrell has also had luck going through the circuit board re-flowing all the solder joints. My own experience would say you should start with the three connections to the odometer motor itself -- there's little else in the circuit that's specific to the odometer alone, and those three joints also represent the point of most mechanical stress in the mounting of the board.
