AC compressor wiring question 900

Hi all,

Question on AC compressor wiring. The compressor that is in my 1996 960 had the two wires at the back clipped off. Not surprisingly that compressor is not working. Even if I jump directly to the battery it does not work. I got a compressor at the junkyard and it looks like those two wires are pretty important and work with the wire that comes from the front of the compressor. My questions are:

- Is the entire compressor electrically connected only through that one thin green/yellow wire?

- What do the two wires coming out of the back do?

- Is there any obvious reason why someone would clip those two wires in the back off and leave the wire from the front connected?

Another AC related question I have is about putting the system back together after replacing the compressor, drier and orifice tube. Is it correct to put about 6 ounces of PAG150 oil in both the compressor and the drier before buttoning everything up?

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee

AC compressor wiring question 900

Does anyone know about this 1996 960 compressor wiring? I am going to be getting my new compressor tomorrow and I really do not want to mess up hooking it up. Can someone tell or show me how the compressor connects to the wiring harness in real life?

Thanks very much,
Jim Lee
