Is it time to give up? 200 1989

If the body and powertrain are sound - Fix it.

Even if you pay thru the nose at a chain, you've still got a great car with known reputation and maintenance for less than the cost of 2 car payments (new car).

You're probably not going to get what she's worth without it fixed. If you scrap it - you're going to have to pay more than the cost to fix in order to get another car that is half way dependable.

As everyone else is saying, exhaust work is not difficult - (can be frustrating - but not technically difficult). But I also understand that there are sometimes, you simply don't have the time or patience for a DIY job.

Regardless - IMHO - it's almost always better to fix your car - than to purchase someone else's problems.
