Help. Engine won't start after changing temp sensor. 200 1993

I was getting the code that the engine temp sensor was not sending the correct signal so I installed a new one. In order to get in I removed the throttle body and the 3 hoses to the intake manifold (above the throttle body). After reassembly, the engine cranks but will not start. I have spark and I can smell fuel on a plug when pulled (though it is not wet). The cable to the throttle body is plugged in, as is the temp sensor and the AMM.

What did I do?

What engine management system do you have, and did you get the Coolant Temperature Sensor for that engine management system?

For instance, the CTS from an LH 2.4 car will work in a LH 2.2 car, but a CTS from an LH 2.2 car will not work in an LH 2.4 car.

John, you're exactly right. It turns out that I ordered the right part for the wrong year. It looked the same, but I should have realized it wasn't when the plug was upside down after I screwed in the sensor.

Thanks for you help.

Is it possible to put a gauge temp sensor into the location for the engine temp sensor? In other words, did someone sell you the wrong sensor? I think the plugs are the same.

Charley
