As far as the flame trap-I change my oil on our '89 wagon every 3k miles like clockwork. I dealt with the flame trap about every 3rd or 5th change. BTW I used Castrol. My "ex" mechanic-("ex" because he went to work for Jay Leno--miss him!) -anyway he suggested I switch to Delo oil, stating I most likely will never have to be concerned about the flame trap again by doing so as long as I do keep the changes regular like I have been doing.. Of course this also was dependent there was no oil burning -slipping past the rings, etc, which it does not. That was about 3-4 years ago. I made the change to Delo. In these past 3-4 years my flame trap has always been clean and has had no need to be serviced. I do check it just to be sure. Will that work for your brick? Can't say-all I know is it works for me and I will stay with Delo. By the way the throttle body stays real clean also, maybe due to using good premium fuel, Techron and a few ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil occasionally, and keeping it in excellent tune. I'm a firm believer in preventative maintenance.
