Losing power in hot weather. 700

1989 745T

I just finished a 3,400km roadtrip in Northern BC with occasional temps in the 30's C. But I am noticing a trend where the car seems to lose power when it is hot, it seems weak at times and easily slides into turbo range on the gauge. The coolant system is working properly and otherwise displays no oddball mechanical behaviour. I have been attributing it to the less O2 dense hotter weather, coupled with the intercooler being jammed between a condenser and a hot radiator.

Anything else to consider? Here's a picture from roadtrip:

Maybe check if the air filter box thermostat is working properly. It typically gets stuck open allowing preheated air to be sucked in all the time.

That's a good point, although I've blocked off the hot air intake permanently from the inside.

Not sure about the problem, but I love the picture. Where was it taken?

The picture was taken along Highway 16 in British Columbia, heading East toward Terrace BC. Beautiful country indeed.
