Losing power in hot weather. 700

1989 745T

I just finished a 3,400km roadtrip in Northern BC with occasional temps in the 30's C. But I am noticing a trend where the car seems to lose power when it is hot, it seems weak at times and easily slides into turbo range on the gauge. The coolant system is working properly and otherwise displays no oddball mechanical behaviour. I have been attributing it to the less O2 dense hotter weather, coupled with the intercooler being jammed between a condenser and a hot radiator.

Anything else to consider? Here's a picture from roadtrip:
