There is an adjustment to the PNP switch, the dealer will have an alignment tool that works every time for them. But not worth the expense for a single switch or two replacement.
Here is what I have done to make an adjustment. With the vehicle off the ground securely supported and wheels chocked to prevent rolling, with ignition on, engine off, place gear selector in reverse, loosen the adjusting bolt, it is in a slotted hole on the switch, now turn the switch until the reverse light go off, then move the switch the other way to make them go back on and pass thru the "on" section of the adjustment until they go off again, now you have determined the range for on lights, now place the switch in the half way point of where the lights would go on, that sweet spot is where to tighten the bolt.
Now, with your foot firmly on the brake, try to start the engine in park. If that works, then try starting the engine in any other gear but park, it should not start, ever!
Now take it out for a spin, try all gears, if you get a flashing arrow, then you will have to move the switch a tad, but which direction will not be known, so you might have to do this again. After each sequence you must try starting the engine while not in park to test for the neutral safety aspect.
