Neutral safety switch replacement 200

Items to remove or move to gain access to the neutral safety switch.



#01: Disconnect battery.
#02: Set parking brake.
#03: Remove the 2 phillips screws at the
front of the shifter base/lift front
and move up to clear.
#04: Move shifter to low position #1.
#05: Remove 2 phillips screws (right side)
of Neutral Safety Switch.
#06: Lift out Neutral Safety Switch.
#07: If radio is in the lower position remove
knobs and unscrew and remove face plate.
#08: Remove 2 phillips screws from lower center console
at rug level.
#09: Remove Left and Right upper screws(phillips)from side panels.
#10: Remove Left and Right lower plastic screws (slotted) from side panels.
#11: Slowly draw out center panel and drivers side panel to gain access
to Neutral Safety Switch Wiring.
#12: Work the plugs loose and disconnect.
#13: Carefully work wiring back below carpeting and remove
old switch. (((Watch for sharp edges on the metal parts)))
#14: **NOTE** The new switch may not have the same color wiring as the
origional Volvo switch. Make sure to trace back to see what connection
is correct for each plug.
#15: After switch is installed adjust screws to set marks at
the top of the switch for park and neutral.
#16: Replace panels and screws to finish installation.
#17: Check that the car will start in park and neutral and also check
the back-up lights.
