fuel rail leaking fuel from bottom of main tube approx. 5/8" diameter 200 1993

I located a used one off a '92 I have '93 but they look the same Ebay $60.00 complete with injectors. I was thinking of removing my rail and cleaning this simple steel tube up and use some J B weld to seal the 3 pin holes that are in bottom of steel tube. Is this asking for trouble? Of would soldering it up work better, braze? I'm quite skilled with a torch. I don't know if this is just a dumb move or normal for such a thing. SPEND THE $60.00 AND BE DONE WITH IT,
THE STEALER WANTS $170.00 FOR NAKED RAIL. BTW by simply wiring up the oxygen sensor, my #4 fuse energizes momentarily when I turn key on, fired right off once new filter filled up.

I went to close rear hatch and now it no longer latches. Is this a mechanism similar to doors, I tried key both ways and the lever inside and the child proof switch, no latch. Fix one matter two pop up, WTF?

The 92 and 93 appear to be identical.

Dan, thanks for in put. I'm removing rail this morning I'm curious how this
eroded away to the point to allow these pin holes in bottom of main tube?
I located 2 different rail on fleabay I contacted sellers just await response.

I would not repair it with epoxy, the appropriate brazing or welding should be fine.

I have a 92 and 93 and will see if mine are the same tomorrow if you like.

I'd appreciate checking your'92 Vs. '93 to see if the same. I was in a car fire once and don't want a repeat performance. I'm wondering how these 3 pin holes could have happened this rail is up on top of engine not subject to the elements
and gasoline being a petroleum product has a bit of oil in it these no rust from fuel contamination possible. I wanted to post to see if anyone has run in to this issue B-4 and how they solved it. thank you for input. Brazing is a solid fix on a steel tube like this. regards, Bill

I don't believe it is a steel tube, and to my knowledge, pinholes are not a common problem with these on a 240, but my familiarity ends with '91, and I believe the 92+ got newer rails with a Schrader valve and no cold start tapoff.

I think you'll find it is soft brass, cad plated, and brazing would be an excellent repair if you would know for sure what caused the leaks. Similar rails in the 900 series were known to have leaky end caps, but I've never heard of this trouble on the 240. If it is corrosion, brazing it up might be a very temporary fix.

$60 is not a terribly bad price for four injectors, although I realize you don't need them.

Art I have not removed rail yet I was tired from laying on my back the last 3 days
my bones starting to ache. I took a piece of sand cloth and sanded a section of top of main tube and it was silver. It could be plated like you said. It is definitely leaking from bottom of tube towards back of car 3 very tiny pin holes
I'll clean it up and examine carefully in the AM after removing. not coming from cap the caps appear to be rounded like end or a broom handle all one piece.

Art,

The only times I have heard of one leaking was either after an accident and the engine slammed the firewall, or someone tried to hammer the fuel rail back in place after replacing injectors or seals. The rails are CAD plated soft brass as you stated, I found that out after my wife's crash 9 years ago almost to the day.

From everything I have seen, the rails in 92 and 93 are identical and should swap right out, to the best of my knowledge they are the only ones with pressure test valves. But of course one can never rule out a late model 91.
