Resolved. Bad strut mounts caused several problems 200

Replaced the strut mounts and most of the related problems seem to be resolved. Recap for future archive searches. Net bad strut mounts cause many problems that are sometimes associated with other part failures. See the notes on this in the 740 FAQ - and if the mounts show cracking, replace them.

There were 4 main drivability problems (- expected problem)

1) Heavy clunk and tire scrubbing on tight slow turns eg. maneuvering in a driveway - bad alignment?
2) Shimmy at various speeds, intermittent, unpredictable (sometimes accelerating, sometimes de~) - bad tire?
3) Dead spot and strong on-center pull in steering - steering rack needed a flush?
4) Shimmy/ vibration/ pulsing when braking - warped rotor?
5) Inside of front tires wearing fast- ball joint/ bushing/ alignment?

Before I replaced the strut mounts: All the bushings F & R were good and some are new. Ball joints were good. Tire rotation & swap didn't alter the shimmy and vibration. Rotor swap didn't change the pulsing when braking.

Thanks again all for your help.
