Few years back when prices were up, my son-in-law lost his 240's converter to thieves at the commuter train parking lot. I found a table of prices on line that showed the old, early converters were more valuable than anything more recent. I guessed the converter-makers took some time to get the efficiency so the first ones had a lot more metals. The scrap price for an old Volvo cat was almost as much as the aftermarket replacement cost.
