Ebay has it's perks: No lunatics calling you in the middle of the night asking ridiculous questions like "What's the least amount you'll take for it?"
When it sells, provided the bidder is not a deadbeat, the buyer comes and drives it away, no warranty, no, "Hey can I take it for a test drive?" in which they beat the living daylights out of the car and then ask, "What's the least you'll take for it?" and so on. If the buyer is crazy enough about the car, they will have it shipped. So either they pick it up, or they pay for shipping. You have the opportunity to give bidders across the country (or around the world for that matter) a shot at bidding on your car. If you set the reserve right, you should do better than by trying to sell it locally.
I've sold quite a few cars on ebay, and although you get your share of jerks, for the most part it's been okay. I sold a truck on Facebook, via a Craigslist ad last fall. Just posted the link on my Facebook page, and one of my friends bought it. Newspaper ads in this area are totally dead, and there are too many freaks out there to worry about. When you deliver the vehicle, do it in a neutral place away from your home.
