Brake light issue 200 1986

A poor ground in that light cluster or its harness could cause this. A way to check is: with headlights off, activate brakes, Right turn signal and backup lights. That's a pretty big electrical load. If all those bulbs work OK in that cluster, your problem is not likely a bad ground.

The Bulb Failure Sensor is in the brake circuit and also in the headlight low beams circuit. Does the offending brake light work OK with headlights on high beam? (High beams bypass the BFS.) How about if just the parking lights are on?
