Will someone explain overdrive to me and how do I know if it works 200 1987

push the button so that there is NO arrow in your dash, and never push it again. overdrive is an electronic 4th gear, and it works like any other gear, so long as the arrow is OFF. you only need to push the button for the arrow to go on in case you wish to accelerate quickly at high speeds, or if you are towing.
