Replaced the muffler system on the 240 wagon just 2 years ago. the car has been garaged both winters. both the center pipe and tail pipe look closed to brand new.
On the other hand, the pipe that is integral to and exits the center muffler has broken away. This is from metal fatigue, not rust. Also the bracket that is attached to the tail pipe end of the rear muffler has now broken away for the same reason and is leaking from the resulting hole. I doubt I have 15,000 miles on this Wagner system.
Luckily I saved the the Bosal system from my expired 89 240 that had seen 2 winters and still looks in great shape.

I know I have posted this before but I spend some time with a Mig welder preparing new exhaust for installation.
My exhaust is very new also and one thing I have to add on my list as I found out is the Mounting Brackets on the rear muffler. This was the first time the spot welds were starting to tear and leak. I dropped the system down a bit and welded it up. But yeah, I weld a few runs on the Right angle of the intermediate pipe because there is a lot of stress there. I also weld up all four Necks on the Mufflers. Pretty sad to have to fix something that is brand new. I have lifetime warranties on my NAPA exhaust. They are tired of seeing me. TOUGH, Build it better!

Why buy Walker when a genuine Volvo OEM exhaust system is so cheap?

Didn't have time to wait for the parts. Napa had them in stock and the job was completed the same day the system failed.
But what a waist of money,

Check around a bit. Some jobbers will warrantee pipes and mufflers for life. Bring in the two year old rusty pos and walk out with a brandy new one for free. Neversieze the joints and you can probably get the pipes apart without Dr Acetylene. Hang it right and it may not even break as soon.
