Hope you're well. If you had replaced, the black rubber vacuum servo, that operates the cruise control, then whoever did the work likely displaced the throttle cable.
Both of these cables are wound around the throttle spindle, which is mounted on a bracket, above the intake manifold. The throttle cable comes through the firewall, just behind the throttle spindle. If the cable was pushed out of position, it will not work smoothly.
Take the car back to whomever did the work, and have then check the throttle cable's position. You should not have to pay to have this put right, as this problem is likely due to the mechanic's failure to check that everything was in good order, before returning the car to your care.
