Phil and I don't agree on the merits of building up the card edge finger with solder. I contend the contact force, if at all sufficient, will plow through that solder over a short period of time, giving you the illusion of a fix. The fingers should not have been "solder plated" but instead plated with electroless tin, if at all. I think gold would have been right, but these are speedometers after all, not airbags.
However, I wondered at your correlation to acceleration. Yes, the harness could be moving around, but so could the wire on the differential sender. In my case, the differentiator was a rap on the dash.
