How to get the bottom of the evaporator housing off 700

You have my deepest sympathy. I did this job on my 940 this summer, and it was absolute hell. Was going to take pictures of the oddball locations for the screws, but was so completely exasperated by the time I finally got it OFF that I took no pictures.

There was one "secret screw" on the angled part of the cover, next to the firewall, that I have no idea how you would remove except with a specially trained hamster. I ended up yanking hard enough to break the housing around that screw. Used a little extra black goo in that spot on reinstallation and threw that screw in the parts bin. Another screw was hidden on the right corner near the door opening. Wires were actually ziptied to it, making it impossible to see. Ziptie must be cut, wires pushed out of the way, then (working blind) the screw can be removed with an extension and u-joint.

Yes, the firewall end comes out last and goes in first. The foam donut that surrounds the plastic drain spout should be peeled off the firewall padding and glued onto the lower cover for reinstallation, then the donut and spout can settle back into the hole in the firewall. I fought with the thing for hours before I figured THAT out.

BTW, getting it off is an f-ing CAKEWALK compared to getting it back ON.
