Fuel Pressure Regulator, 745 Turbo Wagon 700

Just a quick note for opinions: The other day had idling issues (would not idle at all)... it seemed to clear up on it's own. While under the hood and car idling, disconnected the FPR vacuum line and the car seemed to smooth out a LITTLE bit (a small "miss" seemed to disappear) but otherwise there was NO effect on the car's running. When the vacuum line was replaced it seemed to start idling a LITTLE rougher, but very little change in idle at all. REPLACE FPR?? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

ANSWER Your FPR is worling normally 700

When you took the vac line off you should have plugged it. If you didn't, the mixture goes lean from the air being sucked in, and idle speed will tend to rise until the IAC valve corrects it.

In any case, with the vac hose off, the FPR is exposed to atmospheric pressure (as with a Wide Open Throttle) so it raises the fuel pressure by about 9psi from what it was at idle. This richens the mixture, perhaps making the idle a little smoother.
